To keep New Zealand safe we need people who are skilled and knowledgeable in cyber security, technology, mathematics, computer engineering and computer science.
GCSB needs to represent the society we serve and that includes ensuring we encourage women to study subjects that may assist them to gain a position with GCSB.
Scholarship value
The value of this award is $10,000, which can be spread over three years depending on your study plans. Note, no more than $5,000 will be allocated in any one year.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the GCSB Tertiary Scholarship, applicants must be:
- a student over the age of 18 years who identifies as female
- in your second, or subsequent year of full time tertiary study (including Honours and Masters students)
- have enrolled, or been accepted into a full time degree majoring in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) at an approved NZQA accredited tertiary provider in New Zealand for the next academic year. Note: the STEM disciplines we are interested in include computer science, cyber security, technology, mathematics, computer engineering, and data science
- a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
We award up to four scholarships
Up to four scholarships may be awarded, of which, one will be dedicated to a Māori/Pasifika candidate.
How we assess applications
- proven leadership qualities and/or experience
- Voluntary work (including coaching and mentoring)
- demonstrated commitment to pursuing a STEM career
- clear understanding of the importance of STEM for New Zealand
- academic achievement and excellence.
Application timeframe
Applications open on 1 July and close on 1 October. Successful scholarship winners will be notified in November.
