Choose your referees - ideally one will be your current manager (let us know if that’s not possible). Tell them to expect a call from an unknown number.

Don’t go into details about what job you’ve applied for or where it is. Keep it vague - talk about a ‘government department’ or ‘analyst’ role.

Provisional offer

After reference checks, we’ll make you a provisional offer, which is conditional on you obtaining a high level national security clearance.

Respond to the offer, including your signed acceptance. Do not resign from your current role yet - wait until your clearance comes through.

Our team will give you basic cover advice over the phone, with guidance on what to tell people about the role.

Don’t talk to anyone about what’s in the vetting forms. Our team will also be discreet - your information is kept in confidence by our vetting team.

Tips

Things to be aware of before applying

01
Discretion is important. Keep your application confidential until you speak to your recruiter, they will help you navigate the process.
02
If you’ve already told people, don’t panic. Talk to your recruiter and they’ll help you come up with a plan to keep your application confidential.
03
It’s a long process. The recruitment process can take six months or longer.
04
Be honest. You might be asked some questions that make you feel uncomfortable during the vetting process - we just ask that you answer honestly.
05
We’re discreet too. What you tell the vetting team is only used for the security clearance process.
06
Hold off on resigning. Even if you get a provisional job offer don’t resign from your current job until you’ve got your security clearance.
